The Worst Nationwide Communications Outage in over a DecadeDear Gateway Telnet Customer, This is the end of one of the most challenging weeks for the telecommunications industry in our nation. As we previously informed, Bandwidth, one of the largest Tier1 Communications provider in the country has been the victim of a DDoS attack that crippled their network, resulting in millions of people not being able to send or receive phone calls. Many carriers and VoIP providers use Bandwidth as their source for phone services and phone numbers and as such, have been affected. Here is a link to an independent monitoring agency that shows the extent of the outage per carrier https://downdetector.com. You can also read a letter from David Morken, CEO of Bandwidth in the link below https://www.bandwidth.com/blog/a-message-to-our-customers-and-partners/. The good news is that since Wednesday at 5PM the network has been stable; their engineers were able to mitigate the attack and restore normal functionality. The FBI and other government agencies are investigating the source and nature of the attack. We will continue to do our best in keeping you as up to date as possible. Thank you for your continued support, we are deeply sorry if you have been affected at all by this attack. Sincerely,
Jerry Hilecher ![]() |
